Does Israel's Dead Sea Live Up To The Hype? | Destination Debunkers

INSIDER'S A.C. Fowler heads to the Dead Sea in Israel. Is it worth the trip and a bucket list must, or is it a total travel nightmare? A.C. will rate it on how crowded it is, if the mud bath works, and how well you can float in the salty Dead Sea. The Dead Sea in Israel is actually not a sea. It's a lake, and it's bordered by Israel, the West Bank, and Jordan. It's fed by the Jordan River in the north. It's called "dead" because no life can be sustained in the water because of its high salt content. At 10 times more than any other sea in the world, the high salt content means you can't sink in the water. About 1.74 million tourists and locals visit the Dead Sea a year. Spring and fall are usually the best times of the year to visit the Dead Sea due to the milder weather. The average temperature near the Dead Sea is about 80 °F (26.6 °C). At the Dead Sea, there are natural mud deposits, and the mud is supposed to be really good for your skin. The same minerals in the mud are also in the water. Dermatologist Marisa Garshick explains that it's not just the quantity of the salt in the Dead Sea, but it's actually the type of salt that is found. The Dead Sea has a lot of magnesium, bromide, calcium, and potassium, and these elements may have true benefits for the skin. ------------------------------------------------------ #Israel #DeadSea #INSIDER INSIDER is great journalism about what passionate people actually want to know. Is The Glacier Skywalk In Canada Worth The Trip? | Destination Debunkers

INSIDER's A.C. Fowler heads to the Glacier Skywalk in Jasper, Canada. The skywalk is in the Canadian Rockies and is a glass-bottomed bridge a thousand feet in the air. Is it worthy of your bucket list? A.C. tests how easy it is to travel to the Glacier Skywalk, how crowded the bridge is, and how stunning the views are. The closest hotels in Jasper, Canada were completely booked, so A.C. booked a hotel in the neighboring town of Banff. The journey to the bridge, some of which has no cell reception, is no easy feat. The cost of tickets to access the Skywalk was pricey: $34 for adults, $17 for kids ages 6-15. Children 5 and under can go for free. The Skywalk itself seemed a little small because of the large crowds, but the views were breathtaking. ------------------------------------------------------ #Canada #Glacier #INSIDER INSIDER is great journalism about what passionate people actually want to know. Is Tubing In Kauai, Hawaii A Total Blast? | Destination Debunkers

INSIDER's A.C. Fowler heads to Kauai backcountry in Hawaii to go tubing. He'll be plunging through the canals and tunnels in Hawaii's Backcountry Adventure. Is it a total blast or a claustrophobic's nightmare? A.C. tests how safe the tubing experience is, how crowded it is, and how fun it is. The cost for Backcountry Adventures' mountain tubing experience was pricey: $110 per person for an hour of tubing. The tubing path was built on top of Lihue's historic sugar cane plantation's old sugar cane irrigation systems in 2003. You glide along narrowing water pathways, naturally protruding rocks and walls, and dark caves. You're given plenty of safety equipment like a wetsuit top, water-safe shoes, gloves, and a helmet with a headlight. It's much more fun than a typical lazy river. ------------------------------------------------------ #Hawaii #Travel #INSIDER INSIDER is great journalism about what passionate people actually want to know. Is Iceland's Blue Lagoon A Lavish Luxury? | Destination Debunkers

INSIDER's A.C. Fowler heads to Iceland's Blue Lagoon, a natural hot spring. Is it a lavish luxury or an overpriced public pool? The Blue Lagoon is in Grindavík, a 45-minute drive from Iceland's capital Reykjavík, a quickly growing tourist hot spot. The area is a perfect blend of city and country living. A.C. tests how crowded it is, if it's worth the $58 admission, and if the lagoon's water and mud really have healing properties. The Blue Lagoon is one of the most visited destinations in Iceland. 80% of tourists who come to the country trek to the famous thermal waters. While the physical lagoon is man-made, the natural geothermal waters are sourced from a nearby geothermal field. The peak season is the summer, so the best time to visit the Blue Lagoon is in the winter. CEO Grímur Sæmundsen said, "To be in the Blue Lagoon and having the Northern Lights, there's nothing that beats it." The Blue Lagoon also acts as a facility for skin care research, so it makes sense that its biggest selling point is its natural silica mud masks. Make sure you head to the lagoon early in the day to beat the crowds. Keep it mind that it can be pricey, so make sure you're picking a package that fits your needs. And don't be afraid to lather on the complimentary silica masks. ------------------------------------------------------ #Iceland #BlueLagoon #INSIDER INSIDER is great journalism about what passionate people actually want to know.
